So many concepts exist; so many are reinvented everyday; and still others are discovered and worked at in the pursuit of excellence and innovation in design. Our stories this week touch upon such concepts as post modern pastiche, fusion, origami-inspired, city-within-city and duality in architecture.

Each has its high point and efficacy down to its minutest detail. However, is it just one conceptual idea that toes the line till its culmination into a beautiful realisation? Or it is much more than that? Probably, it is a bunch of ideas and ideologies that the architect wisely collates and contextually applies with due respect to site and inhabitant idiosyncrasies’, solving problems, overcoming inherent challenges… along the way; and then there is a lot of architecture that – just happens!!

Without much over rationalizing, let’s enjoy the works of stalwarts: schmidt hammer lassen, Sanjay Puri, Masahiko Sato, Makoto Yamaguchi and Concrete studio among others…

Happy reading…

Warmly,

Savitha Hira
